Hobbes and Bacon Part 1 by Dan and Tom Heyerman
Enlarge - Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4I know everybody has probably already seen these, but I just reread the four-part webcomic and thought I’d post. It imagines Calvin 26 years later introducing his daughter Bacon (after Sir Francis Bacon) to Hobbes. I know its kind of sacred to touch or update the material, but these are done really well and would probably make Bill Watterson proud.
Extremely long exposure: Photographer endures 15-hour shoots in the wintry Australian outback to snare stunning images of star trails in the night sky
Australian photographer Lincoln Harrison’s photographs of star trails in the Australian night sky. These long-exposure shots were taken over the course of 15 hours! Not only did these shots require a lot of patience but they also required a great deal of stamina.
In order to take these shots, Harrison had to withstand Australia’s cold winter night near Bendigo over Lake Eppalock. Harrison describes his experience saying, “It was a grueling night with a total shooting time was 15 hours in freezing conditions, sunset to sunrise.”
On Top of The World
Real-life sky walker the photographer who risks his life scaling sky-high buildings to take incredible photos of the world below.
Russian student Marat Dupri, 19, bought a Canon camera 18 months ago and immediately decided to start taking shots of beautiful views. He began climbing onto the roofs of houses to capture spectacular views from the air, before deciding to go to even greater heights.
Together with his fearless friends and models, he has sneaked past guards at some of Moscow’s tallest structures - to produce incredible yet stomach-churning images.

Tokihiro Sato is a contemporary and renowned photographer from Japan who has made through his artistic interpretation of light and space a name. He works with shutter speeds, which can last up to 1-3 hours. Points and rays are produced either by flashlight or by reflecting mirror, which he directs and focuses the sun’s rays onto the camera lens. This gives rise to individual light particles from carpets and sweeping light strands, which are scattered in landscapes, towns and abandoned houses. With its dancing lights Sato creates a feeling of space and depth.
